Zenith Bank PLC has appointed Dr. Adaora Umeoji as its first female GMD/CEO, succeeding Dr. Ebenezer Onyeagwu. The announcement came via a statement signed by Michael Otu, the company secretary, and filed with the Nigerian Exchange Limited on Tuesday. Umeoji's tenure begins on June 1, 2024, marking a significant milestone in the bank's leadership history. With nearly three decades of banking experience, including 26 years at Zenith Bank, Umeoji's appointment aligns with the institution's tradition of nurturing internal talent. Prior to this role, she served as the Deputy Managing Director since October 28, 2016. Umeoji is a distinguished alumna of Harvard Business School, Columbia Business School, and has earned degrees from prestigious institutions worldwide, including the University of Jos, Baze University, University of Salford, University of Calabar, and Apollos University. She has also completed executive education programs at MIT Sloan School of Management and Wharton Business School, among others.
